UPDATE ON IMPLEMENTATION OF UCI TASKFORCE FOR COVID-19
PREPAREDNESS
1. Staff arrangements
i. Duty
(a) All vehicles of UCI have been brought back to the Institute and pooled for
institutional use during this period and will be made use of in transporting staff
given the crisis of public transport.
(b) The Institute will transport all staff on duty.
(c) All staff must register their duty attendance.
(d) All meals during working hours will be provided to staff on duty.
(e) An appropriate risk allowance will be given to all staff working during the lock-
down period.
(f) No member of staff should miss duty without informing his or her immediate
supervisor despite the country’s partial lock down.
ii. Personal Protective Equipment
All staff are encouraged to look out for correct information about PPE and must ensure to use it according to the given recommendations to avoid wastage without increase the risk of exposure.
2. Patients arrangements
i. Patients stranded at UCI
(a) A team of clinicians will triage all patients stranded at UCI and in hostels and
document decisions based on clinical assessment which will be implemented.
(b) Arrangements will be made with appropriate authorities to help patients and
attendants who need to go home travel safely.
(c) All wards should have only patients admitted for emergency reasons or
actively receiving treatment.
2. Screening for COVID-19 at UCI
All people accessing UCI premises must be screened for COVID-19 symptoms and must adhere to the measures put in place by the institute to prevent the spread of the infection. This includes all staff as well.
All persons must present evidence of passing through the screening process before they can access any UCI services or building.
