Uganda Cancer Institute is led by a team of exceptionally experienced personnel whose track record in their various fields of profession makes them stand out. This team comprises of, The Minister of Health, the Board, Executive Director, Deputy Executive Director and other officials on management level. These individuals are carefully selected according to requirements which are clearly stipulated in the Uganda Cancer Institute Act 2016 Act 19 sections 6, 7, 9 and 11.
Profile - Minister of health
Hon. Dr. Jane Ruth Aceng is the current minister of Health in the Cabinet of Uganda. She appoints board members of the Uganda Cancer Institute and gives policy directions, in writing, to the institute as stipulated in Section 6 of the UCI Act.
She studied at Makerere University where she acquired two Bachelor’s degrees in Medicine and Surgery and two Masters Degrees in Medicine in Paediatrics and Public Health. She also acquired a diploma in Public Management and Administration from Uganda Management Institute.
The Board
The institute has an eight member board of Directors who are the governing body of the institution and are responsible for the general direction and supervision of the institute. These Board members hold a four year term of office and are eligible for reappointment for only one more term.
