The Uganda Cancer Institute (UCI) proudly announces the exhibition of innovative herbal medicines developed by its Centre for Natural Therapies (CeNaT) at this year’s National Science week. These groundbreaking natural formulations represent a major stride in blending traditional knowledge with modern scientific research to deliver safe, effective, and trusted wellness solutions.
CeNaT, a specialized unit within UCI, is dedicated to promoting holistic health through the use of research-driven herbal remedies. Focused on the intersection of tradition and science, the unit continues to pioneer treatments that align with the body’s natural healing processes, emphasizing patient safety, scientific validation, and community trust.
“Our work at CeNaT is about restoring confidence in natural therapies, ensuring that they are not only rooted in traditional wisdom but also supported by rigorous scientific research,” said Dr. Boniface Adeka, Head of CeNaT. “We are addressing real health challenges, particularly among cancer patients, with solutions that are both innovative and culturally relevant.”
Among the herbal products showcased are:
Laxanat– A gentle, effective remedy developed to relieve constipation, especially among cancer patients undergoing treatment. Prostate Tincture– A powerful herbal formulation researched for its potential to arrest the growth of prostate cancer cells. Muconat– Designed to promote oral health and hygiene, especially for patients undergoing chemotherapy or radiation therapy. Immunocat– A natural immune booster that supports overall immunity and enhances the body’s resistance to illness. Healnat– A topical solution aimed at accelerating wound healing and tissue regeneration. Mammanat– Formulated to boost the immunity of breast cancer patients, enhancing their overall wellness during treatment.
Each of these products is the result of rigorous scientific inquiry, clinical insight, and expert herbal knowledge. With CeNaT’s growing body of research and development, UCI is reinforcing its role as a regional leader in integrative oncology and patient-centered care.
The herbal medicine exhibition will run throughout the National Science week at Kololo Independence grounds offering attendees the opportunity to learn about these therapies, consult with experts, and explore collaborative opportunities.
